Assessments for early dementia and cognitive decline help individuals and families gain clarity and support at the earliest possible stage. Identifying changes in memory and thinking early can make a significant difference in planning care, managing symptoms, and improving quality of life.
Our assessments explore key areas of brain functioning, including:
- Memory (short-term, long-term, and working memory)
- Language and communication
- Processing speed and attention
- Problem-solving and executive function
- Orientation and daily functioning skills
We utilise validated neuropsychological tools and cognitive screening measures, in conjunction with clinical interviews, medical history reviews, and, where appropriate, brain-based assessments such as QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography, also known as Brain Mapping).
These assessments can help distinguish between:
- Normal age-related changes in memory and thinking
- Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
- Early signs of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease or vascular dementia
Following the assessment, clients and families receive a comprehensive written report and feedback session outlining results, diagnostic impressions (where appropriate), and personalised recommendations. These may include medical referrals, psychological support, cognitive rehabilitation strategies, and lifestyle adjustments that have been proven to support brain health.
