We provide compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals experiencing cognitive decline or dementia, as well as their families and carers. While there is currently no cure for dementia, targeted psychological interventions can help maintain functioning, improve quality of life, and reduce distress.

Our treatment approach emphasises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and related therapies, adapted to the needs of older adults and those with memory or thinking changes.

Key areas we address during cognitive decline or dementia treatment

  • Anxiety and depression – using CBT to challenge unhelpful thoughts, reduce worry, and support mood stability
  • Coping with memory loss – developing practical strategies and compensatory techniques to manage day-to-day difficulties
  • Adjustment support – helping individuals and families adapt to diagnosis, manage uncertainty, and build resilience
  • Behavioural and emotional symptoms – addressing irritability, frustration, or low motivation that can accompany dementia
  • Sleep and wellbeing – improving routines, sleep hygiene, and stress management

In addition to CBT, we integrate:

  • Psychoeducation for individuals and families to understand changes in the brain and how to respond constructively
  • Cognitive stimulation strategies to engage memory, attention, and problem-solving skills in everyday life
  • Supportive therapy and counselling for carers, recognising the emotional and practical demands of caregiving

Our cognitive decline and dementia treatments are designed to be practical, person-centred, and collaborative, often involving family members to ensure support extends into home and community life.
